About ADHD in children

What age groups are ADHD assessments for?

We provide ADHD assessments for people aged 6+. Many adults come to us later in life, often after years of wondering or feeling overlooked. We work hard to provide accessible ADHD assessments for all age groups.

What are the common signs of ADHD?

For some, it can mean being easily distracted, forgetful or restless; for others, it can be differences with organisation, managing time, friendships or regulating emotions.

How can ADHD impact a child's life?

ADHD can cause difficulties at school due to differences in focus and time management. Impulsiveness can also impact personal safety while friendships and home life may be impacted by differences with emotional regulation.

How is ADHD diagnosed?

ADHD is diagnosed through a comprehensive assessment by a specialist clinician with extensive training, typically involving interviews, questionnaires and observation. Following assessment, a detailed report outlines the findings, which can support access to educational or workplace adjustments, therapy and other forms of help.

Assessments and diagnosis

The key is recognising ADHD early so that challenges can be managed and strengths can be optimised.

We offer expert ADHD assessments, as well as ADHD medication services, for adults, young people, and children aged six and above.

At Oxford ADHD and Autism Centre, we help people understand their child and support them to feel more confident and thrive in education and family life.

We offer private neurodevelopmental assessments and support either online or at our local clinics in Headington and Garsington.
